The Emptied Account but an Unempty Spirit: How I Fought for My Children

-

Like so many other families, I emptied my savings fighting for my children.

Not for luxury. Not for comfort. But to defend my family in a battle that never should have existed.

Retainers. Court costs. Evaluations. Filings. Missed work. Every dollar spent was a response to a system that required us to finance our own defense.

Parents across this state and across this country are draining savings accounts, retirement funds, and in some cases their children’s savings just to survive investigations and prolonged court proceedings.

My account may be empty. My spirit is not.

What they did not count on was a family that would not stop. A family that would not allow neglect or unethical practices to break them. What they did instead was ignite a fire that will never dim.

While they shift roles and protect positions, families across this community and this state are organizing. Because as a dear friend once said, one child unjustly removed is one child too many.

If you had to drain your savings or your child’s savings to fight a battle that never should have existed, leave a comment with the amount you have spent.

Let the numbers speak.
